Link Collection Sites

Sites which are primarily lists of links to other sites (or to particular things on other sites such as maps).
Also includes links to "web rings" and other such collections of light rail and related sites.
Note: Many sites in the other sections also include extensive lists of links.
This section is for sites which are exclusively (or almost exclusively) collections of links.
- blickpunktstrab.net Webring - Organized by the Blickpunkt Strassenbahn (or "Viewpoint Tramway") group in Germany, this is the "webring for tram and public transport websites." Still growing since recently changing "homes" on the net, the ring has almost 90 member sites, including many German sites, as of August 2002.
- iRail - UK-based web directory created in 2001 dedicated to railways, model railways, and most anything related to railways (such as collectibles, history, preservation, etc.). Specific sections dedicated to Tramways and to the Underground. About 1800 links overall and about two dozen links in the Underground and Tramway categories (as of August 2002).
- London Transport Webring - Founded in late 1998 and featuring sites "from London Transport, London Buses, London Transport Buses, London Underground andTransport for London & National Rail. Buses, Tube, Train, Trolleybuses, Trams" or, in other words, everything related to public transport in greater London. About 60 member sites as of August 2002.
- Maps and Schemes of Mass Transit - Maps, maps, and more maps. Sergej Pachomov's site with links to tram, bus, and trolleybus route maps for many of the world's cities (though subway/metro and rail maps are generally not included).
The site also has special features on transit maps for a number of Ukrainian cities.
- RailroadData.Com - A directory site related to the RailroadInfo.com site - described elsewhere - which contains more than 5000 railroad related links (as of August 2002) collected since 1996. The directory is divided into about forty major categories (with almost 200 links in the Transit, Light Rail, and Commuter category as of August 2002) including one for webcams. There's also search capability across all the categories as well.
- RailServe - Started in 1996, this searchable directory of over 8000 links (as of June 2003), each with brief descriptions, covers all facets of the rail-related web... from antiques and collectibles through multimedia (clipart, photos, and sounds) to model railroads (several categories), passenger and urban transport (several categories), and more... there's even a section of railroad apparel links! There are about 900 links in the various passenger and urban transit categories and about another 600 in the tourist railroad and museum categories (as of June 2003).

- Routes International - As the "gateway to the world of 'people' transportaion by land, rail, sea, and air", the site provides a "free ticket to everywhere" through about 110 transit and tram museum links, 2500 transit system links (all modes, worldwide) and many thousands more rail, aviation, marine, general transportation, and other links as of August 2002. There are also a few "entertainment" sections including a ticket gallery (rotating content) and transportation books. In English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, or Spanish.
- RUN & ING Mass Transit Links - Part of a larger travel links site created by RUN and ING (Claes Runström and Ingela Martenius), the site contains links to the official sites of all kinds of mass transit systems (with a heavy emphasis on metro systems). About 50 links as of October 2000.

- TrafficLinq - The "traffic engineering and transportation engineering search directory" run by a Dutch group of professional traffic journalists with links to "sites on ITS, public transport, transportation planning, traffic engineering, road pricing, electronic toll collection, traffic information, parking, traffic safety, bicycling, commuting, software, organizations and traffic industry." About 1000 editor-selected links overall and 120 in public transportation as of August 2002.
- TrainNet International Railway Links - With almost 7700 links (as of August 2002) and growing almost every week since starting in 1995, this is probably the longest list on the web of sites related to 'everything on a flanged wheel'. Their "Web Gem Award" denotes a much smaller list of outstanding sites (such as LRTA's own site).
- Tram Ring - Web ring of sites covering "trams, tramways, streetcars, trolleys - and all urban and suburban public transport on rails!" Founded in 1996 and formerly mastered by Emídio Gardé, the ring has about 45 member sites as of August 2002.
- tram.pagina.nl - Tram links worldwide with particular strength on the Netherlands and the rest of Europe. As of August 2002 about 400 links covering the entire spectrum of tram related site types. Part of the much larger StartPagina site.

- Tramscape Tramway Links - Links to tramway systems, unofficial sites, and other sites of tramway interest around the world. About 35 links as of August 2002.
- UK Public Transport Information - Comprehensive source of links to information about almost all public transport options in the United Kingdom with about 50 rail related sites as of August 2002. Unique approach lets you click on maps to find transport options closest to where you click.
- United States Light Rail Transit System Web Sites - Links from the APTA Net site to most all existing and proposed light rail systems in the United States as well as similar lists of existing and proposed heritage/vintage tram ("trolley") operations. About 80 links as of August 2002.
- United States Heavy Rail Transit System Web Sites - Like the the APTA Net light rail list, but for links to metro ("heavy rail") systems (in the United States) instead. About 15 links as of August 2002 (with no change in number since October 2000).
