Bush picks Democrat to be Transportation Secretary

Republican President-elect George Bush has nominated Democrat Norman Mineta to be Secretary of Transportation in his new administration. Most recently he served as Secretary of Commerce in the Clinton administration. The news of Mineta's nomination has been greeted favourably in the US transportation community, and he is certainly familiar with all the benefits that light rail can bring about.
