Tram Train developments

In Japan the J.R. (Japan Railway Group) Toyama-ko (Toyama port) line has been converted to Light Rail between north of J.R. Toyama station and Iwasehama (Toyama port). It opened for service on 29th April. After completion of overhead construction of the J.R. Hokuriku line and Shinkansen from Tokyo, it will be connected to Toyama city streetcar system.

In France the urban network of the Mulhouse Tram Train will be officially inaugurated, in the presence of the President of the Republic on the 20th May. This will be preceded by a festival to welcome the arrival of the tram on the 13th May. The initial 12km section comprises two lines which cross at Porte Jeune in the city centre. The Tram-Train Mulhouse-Kruth will follow in 2008 with the full system due for completion in 2011.
