Toronto light rail plan

Toronto city officials have announced a 15 year CAD 6-billion dollar plan to build an ambitious light rail transit network that will include seven lines.

Nearly CAD 1 billion in public transit funding for the Greater Toronto Area was announced recently, including the federal share of a CAD 2.1 billion project to extend Toronto's Spadina subway line into York Region, but the plan will depend on further Government money to bring it to fruition.

The plan if implemented should attract almost 70 million new riders, and transform Toronto into a "transit city."
