Kyiv opens high speed tram line

Kyiv municipal state administration has opened the first stage of a reconstructed rapid tram line from the stop at the Ring Road to Starovokzalna serving Romen Rollan's, Hnat Yura's and The Sosninys Family's.

The reconstruction of the tramway from the Ring Road to the Kyiv railway station started in June 2007 with a first at a cost of UAH 365 million (GBP 30 million approx.). It will be operated by 40 trams giving between a 2 and 6 minute frequency with a 30 minute end to end time.

Travel will be free on the line until October 23 to give Kyivans an opportunity to familiarise themselves with its advantages.
