De Lijn orders 48 Bombardier trams

Belgian public transport operator De Lijn of Flanders has named Bombardier as preferred bidder for an order for 48 low- floor trams valued at EUR 126.8M, 38 for Antwerpen and 10 for Gent. There is an option for a further 40 cars. Antwerpen will get 38 31.5m trams and 10 42.7m trams for use on lines 3 and 15. Gent will receive 10 42.7m cars for use on line 1. The new trams will provide extra capacity and allow some PCC cars to be withdrawn.
