Baby Grand rides again

Saturday 12th September 2015 will see the long awaited launch of Liverpool car 245 back into public service. For the first time in almost 58 years car 245 will carry paying passengers. In a joint operation between the Merseyside Tramway Preservation Society, National Museums Liverpool and Metropolitan Borough of Wirral 245 was brought to Wirral Transport Museum in May 2006 to begin a nine year long restoration by volunteers from the MTPS funded by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Tramcar 245 - the last surviving Liverpool Baby Grand will run as part of the historic tram fleet that runs on Wirral's Heritage tramway between Woodside Ferry and the Transport Museum at Taylor Street, Birkenhead.

Further information can be found on the MPTS website and from the Wirral Globe where there is a short video of the tram and details of timetable and tickets.
