The traditional tram was no great looker - though many feel great nostalgia for them. The Alsthom tram produced for Grenoble
in the mid-1980's was the first modern tram to have real aesthetic quality and to
enhance the image of the city it serves. Grenoble has taken full advantage of this, with
its stunning sleek tram providing a dramatic contrast with both broad avenues and squares
and, as shown here, narrow streets and a dramatic corner round which it seems incredible
that such a vehicle can go, let alone one in each direction!
