This picture shows the Sydney Tramway Museum's restored Sydney R class tram #1808 travelling over the Princes Bridge across Melbourne's Yarra River . The 1934 vintage tram was the first Sydney passenger carrying tram to operate in Melbourne at least since the first years of the 20th century. #1808 was oficially scrapped in 1959, just prior to the 1961 closure of the Sydney tramway system.

The BONDI destination shows one of the most famous tramway destinations in Australia's history.

The large spectator crowd is only a small part of the large number of people who turned out for the Moomba 'Trams on Parade' spectaular, a regular annual event in Melbourne when unusual and specially decorated and themed trams provide a spectaular special parade as part of the three day Melbourne 'Moomba Festival". 14 trams took part in this year's parade.
