150 jaar tram in Gent
Save the date – 18th & 19th May
On 24 May 1874, the first horse-drawn tram ran in Ghent, between Gent-Zuid and Dampoort. Today, 150 years later, the tram has become an integral part of Ghent’s cityscape. Reason enough to pay tribute to the trams of the past and present.
We will do this for two days, on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 May in the historic centre of Ghent.
On this occasion, old 3-axle trams will circulate on the network, ex-SNCV trams including the steam locomotive from 1888, a diesel railcar from 1934, electric motor cars with 2, and 4 axles from 1931to 1957.
