Members’ Day – Revolution VLR at Ironbridge

Visit to the Revolution VLR Prototype at the Test Track in Ironbridge

Thursday 17th November 2022 – Ironbridge 09:30 and 14:00

We have secured two visits to the Revolution Very Light Rail demonstrator currently on test at Ironbridge. Each visit can take a maximum of 15 Members, a maximum of 30 in all. Ironbridge has a wide variety of places of historic engineering interest so it is easy to make a full day for your visit. If you are interested, please let Tim Kendell know at technical@lrta.org. If there is enough interest, formal booking will open early October after the AGM is over.

Revolution VLR is an innovative, first-of-a-kind project that utilises leading-edge technologies from the rail and other key sectors to provide a high-quality, affordable solution to facilitate growth of the UK railway, including line extensions and re-openings.

This revolutionary vehicle provides a unique blend of journey experience and ease of access. The lightweight composite bodyshell and hybrid powerpacks reduce energy consumption and maximise operational cost effectiveness.

The Revolution VLR demonstration facility at Ironbridge, Shropshire, has been purpose-built to illustrate how a typical line reopening environment can be set up simply and cost effectively. It includes all essential elements for the operation of Revolution VLR in passenger service.
