TramForward congratulates Campaign for Dundee Trams on an excellent tramway proposal for Dundee
TramForward congratulates Campaign for Dundee Trams on the publishing of their detailed proposal for the introduction of a new tram system for the City. Information on the proposal can be found in a well argued and detailed document on www.dundeetrams.org. TramForward has offered further help and support in this local campaign put together by Harry Main and Ted Booth.
Jim Harkins, TramForward Campaign Chairman, said “This exactly the type of locally-inspired and driven tram initiative that can sow the seeds of success in making the proposal a reality. We see similar local campaigns in Bristol, Bath, Cambridge and Gravesend, where light rail/tram campaign proposals have influenced local authorities to look further into this transport mode”.
The document presents a realistic and ambitious plan for implementing transformative public transport for the benefit of of Dundee and and its surrounding area. It builds on Dundee City Council’s ambitions for a modern and forward thinking city by reaching into the areas of Dundee that desperately need faster and better transport links. These plans will connect the residential areas north of the Kingsway to the rest of the city, weaving together the social fabric and levelling up areas of deprivation. It will also provide a rapid connection to Ninewells Hospital and the city centre for Dundonians and visitors alike.
