West Midlands Combined Authority’s submissions to the City Regions Sustainable Transport Settlement and Bus Service Improvement Plan
TramForward welcomes the above submissions and hopes that the Combined Authority is successful in its bids for funding for projects that will both greatly improve connectivity throughout the West Midlands County and provide links to places important for the public at large and for major employment centres such as New Cross Hospital.
Mike Ballinger, West Midlands Area Officer for the Light Rail Transit Association said;
“We particularly support the proposals for the extension of the metro from Brierley Hill to Stourbridge and Wednesbury to Walsall, which will provide links from the north east and north west to the south west of the conurbation without having to go via Birmingham, while the proposed extension along the Hagley Road will open up a number of future opportunities for improving links throughout the Black Country.
“We recognise that trams are not the answer to all transport problems and therefore also welcome the other proposed transport projects for rail and bus and especially for improved ticketing that will help in reducing the area’s carbon footprint whilst providing a first-class transport system”.
