Judges Special Award for Mike Mabey

The LRTA TramForward congratulates Mike Mabey on receiving the Judges Special Award at the 2021 Global Light Rail Awards last Wednesday evening.

He joined the industry 30 years ago, at the start of the UK’s light rail revolution. Having held positions in customer service, revenue protection and just about every aspect of operations, his knowledge and experience of keeping people happy, safe and smiling is second to none.

After more than 20 years in Manchester, he helped to expand Nottingham’s system, becoming its Head of Operations in a time of major transition. He has helped turn that system into one of the UK’s finest, at the same time sharing sage advice to a new generation as Chair of the UKTram Operations Group and a Director of the Light Rail Safety Standards Board.
