LRTA at The Greatest Gathering

The LRTA were honoured to have a stand within the Railway Family section of the Greatest Gathering From 1st to 3rd August 2025, part of the Railway 200 Celebrations held at the Alstom’s Litchurch Lane Works.
We were busy explaining to visitors how the LRTA is campaigning for more Trams and Light Rail and there was a lot of interest in our local officer’s plans for Derby along with the model Tram he designed and built.
We handed out over 100 copies of Tramways and Urban Transit and signed up over 12 new members with a flurry of new members joining online since. For more about Membership see Membership Options
We also promoted our joint ‘Rising Stars’ initiative with UKTram to encourage younger members of the industry to get more involved and network with each other – more details see Rising Stars.
We sold several of our books about tramways in nearby towns and cities as well as our local Regional Handbook. For our full range of Books see: LRTA Shop
We were pleased to welcome the Chair of the Tramway & Light Railway Society; they had lent the model tram we displayed on our stand .
