TramForward supports Thurrock Tramway Conference

TramForward is proud to support the Thurrock Tramway Conference, which, after a long deferment due to COVID, will take place at the South Essex College in Grays, Essex on Saturday 11^th September 2021, organised by Thames Gateway Tramlink Ltd., promoters of the KenEx Tram Project.

This will be an opportunity to listen to and meet key tramway experts talking about the opportunities and benefits of tramways.

KenEx Tram is a sustainable public transport proposal situated in the heart of the Thames Estuary Growth Area, which will connect communities on either side of the River Thames.

Currently, there is very little public transport connectivity between the two sides of the Thames, leaving communities highly dependent on the Dartford Road Crossing, which is often heavily congested and is a major source of local pollution.

The tramway will be a key public transport connection, providing a step change in local economic opportunity by opening up cross-river travel for employment, education, leisure etc. 

Among key figures in the tram and transport sector speaking at the conference will be: Andrew Braddock, Vice-President of the Light Rail Transit Association; Tim Kendell, Technical Director, LRTA; Mike England, Director, Transport, Iceni Projects; Giles Atkinson, Project Director, Egis Rail; Daniel Giblin, Independent transport consultant and Mark Bentley, Operations Director, South Essex College.

Paul Rowen, Chair of the Light Rail Transit Association, said “The LRTA is pleased to support this conference, which will help to inform politicians, local authorities and the general public in this area of significant development and expansion of the many health, environmental and social benefits of trams.”
